History of WHCC

A decision on February 22, 1970 was made to begin a New Testament congregation in Moon Township. In a response to that decision, West Hills Cristian Chruch (WHCC) first met at 3:00 PM on Sunday afternoon, April 19, 1970 in the Moon Junior High School. On that first Sunday, fourteen people were received into membership. In March 1972, WHCC hired its first full-time minister. Althought the congregation continued to meet at the Juior High School, they were able to purchase the present property.

The congregation's first church building was completed in 1976. The first addition was completed in 1981. Attendance grew steadily and the decision was made in 1990 to build a new worship center to seat 500. The shell of the building was constructed by contracting companies with the interior of the building being complted by members and friends of WHCC. For the volunteer workers, it was truly a labor of love. On September 24, 1995, the first church service was held in the new worship center. In 1997, the worship center was finished with the lower level fellowship hall, kitchen, and additional classrooms being completed.

Where We Are Today

West Hills Christian Church presently focuses primarily on ministry to families with children at home. We have Ministers and activities for children, teens, and young adults as well. We also have a fellowship for Seniors and a support group for Single Parents, both of which meet monthly.

We provide the opportunities for God to touch your life through dynamic Sunday morning worship and small group bible studies which meet during the week in the homes of our members. We also offer a variety of ministriesfor you to use the talents that God has given you.
